Oneida Hakka Cheer / Sunday, August 27, 2006
Dear Oneida Gang,
Today's Scouts CCA saw our cubs accomplishing several things:
1) Cubs did their Road Safety test (silver, under "Looking after myself") and had their Record Book signed.
2) Cubs recited their national anthem and pledge (silver, under "My country and culture") in a horse shoe formation (assisted by Mr Justin Ng) and had their Record Book signed.
3) Some scouts handed in their Water/ Home safety poster and had their Record Book signed.
4) Scouts learned the Oneida Hakka Cheer (silver, under "Creativity; music") and had their Record Book signed. Special thanks to Mr Basheer for teaching the cubs.
5) Only the section on "My Scouts Family: to hand in 5 important names in the scouts district" was not completed.
6) Mdm Azza planned and instructed the cubs to rehearse their skit, which included a new storyline. They will perform the skit on 2nd September.
..............................................................
This was the first time I saw my cubs being suddenly energized and appearing with a renewed sense of vigour. Within several hours, they had mastered the first part of the Oneida Hakka Cheer, replete with action, team synchronization and 'attitude'.
Under Mr Basheer's guidance, the cubs were able to recite the words (which seemed foreign at first) and project their voice as a whole unit. I was quite impressed to see our cubs, despite being dimunitive in size, posessing the team spirit and 'strength' tantamount to an entire batillion!
After several practices, our cubs had the opportunity to combine with the ESS scouts in executing the distinctive cheer. It was definitely sheer masculanity and battle spirit at its finest!
Our cubs listening intently....
Trying out the cheer for the first time...
Cut throat action!....
Our cubs in combination with the ESS scouts...
One last time with Mr Basheer leading...
And yeap we're done! We have a cheer!

Dear Oneida Gang,This is an overdue post, but I thought I'd just document it.
Last month, our cubs from ESPS as well as the scouts from ESS were invited to a glorious campfire in Siglap Secondary School.
What was glorious about the campfire was the way the event was executed. It was well-organized, exciting and filled with lots of cheers and songs.
Our cubs were particularly drawn to the 3-part skit which included a fire-breathing dragon (literally) and lots of action-packed scenes of battles, dragon-slaying and heroic stunts.
It was overall a thrilling campfire and the cubs and scouts enjoyed themselves.
Here are some shots of our cubs at the event!
We are definitely aspiring to host our OWN campfire one day!

Hi Mdm Azah and ESPS leaders:
I would like to clarify that due to intense training schedule and unavailable leaders' due to their school commitments, the hiking trip will be cancelled.
However, if you still want to go hiking, I shall personally look into this matter.
So Mdm Azah, do we still want to go on with the hiking during the September hoildays? :)
Till then.. :)
