Well, it was a rather short march, but every second of it was fun and I felt proud! I am proud to see our scouts carrying the state flag. I hope to join in next years march past.

We have just march in the school at National Day. Our scout members did a good job. It is quite nervous in the begining because when we are marching some people behind are laughing. In the end we still can march beautifully. This year is my 3rd time marching and i think this is the best march i ever did. i hope that next year we will continue doing this nice marching. i am very honoured joining the scout as i think it is fun =).

I was fasinated when we marched during the National Day March Pass. I now know that Scouts are important to Singpore. We had to practice early in the morning but I did not care. At least I am in an important activity with my friends.

Oneida Cubs Camp - June 07 / Monday, July 02, 2007

Dear Oneida Gang,

The camp help on 8th-10th June at the premises of East Spring Secondary was indeed a blast! My apologies dear cubs, for the late post as it took me some time to edit and create collages of your photos in action! I'm sure you boys have many stories to share and anecdotes to regale. All right, let the pictorial evidence do the talking!

Scene 1:Arrival (Click on the image for a bigger picture)

Us arriving at East Spring campsite with haversacks full of necessities and sleeping bags to boot! Some cubs looked as though they were going to camp for one month! Look at the enthusiasm on their faces!

Scene 2: At attention!(Click the image to view a larger picture)

Our Oneida cubs assembling in their lines, all ready to be 'initiated' into the camping tribe! The sixers did a good job in taking charge of the cubs! Look at those covetted proficiency badges! This proves that our cubs are indeed multi-talented!

Scene 3:Tents (Click on the image to view a larger picture)

Okay, first things first, the cubs needed to set up their tents, which was going to be their 'home' for the next 2 nights, sans the parents! It was no joke trying to erect a tent in the hot sun, whatmore with the huge canvasses and adjoining poles! Despite the monumental task and the hodgepodge of tent equipment, the cubs did manage to have their tents up!

Scene4: Tents Up! (Click the image to view a larger picture)

Here we are with most of our tents all ready! We managed to set up the tent just in time before a huge downpour on Friday afternoon! The sense of satisfaction and accomplishment on the cubs' faces was indeed evident! Well done cubs! Thanks to our camp virtuoso, Mr Faris! And I believe, the bonding was simply sublime!

Scene 5: Fun Time! (Click on the image to view a larger picture)

Here are the cubs actively engaged in the camp activities. They played games like 'Pick-up-sticks' and 'Charades' and had a deluge of fun! I simply adore the graffiti art there! After that, we had our sumptous dinner.

Scene 6: Library Hike (Click on the image to view a larger picture)

After dinner, we went for our night walk. From East Spring Secondary, the cubs hiked all the way to the Tampines Regional Library. I was impressed that the cubs could walk in an orderly manner and had a high threshold of endurance despite the hike being a long one. At the library, the boys spent quality time reading. I'm sure Mr Teo would've been proud!

Okay, more pictures will be up soon! It was indeed an enjoyable moment in the cubs' scouting lives!

We, from ESPS would like to extend our special thanks to:

Mr Faris for spearheading the event.

Hasri, Suriana and Shidah for helping out immensely and giving continuous
support to the cubs.

Mr Basheer Khan for allowing us to camp in the premises of East Spring Sec.

And all those who have helped in one way or another.

Till we meet at the next camp! Hurray for the ONEIDA juggernaut!

NATIONAL PIONEERING COMPETITION / Sunday, February 11, 2007

Dear Oneida Gang,

10th February was the big day which the cubs had been training for. We took part in the 3-2-1 flagpole event and Chariot Race, which was definitely a test of one's adroitness, speed, skills and combative prowess! Our cubs had undergone intensive training for the past two Saturdays and were geared up for the first national event of the year at Bishan Park.

These pictures were taken during the cubs' training at East Spring Secondary under the guidance of Mr Faris and Mr Basheer and team. The cubs managed to build solid, aesthetically-pleasing structures after many attempts and practice (and at the same time having loads of fun! Oh well, boys will all be boys!)

Oneida cubs during their training session at ESS.

(Click on the collage to enlarge it.)

And...finally, the big day!

Click on the collage to enlarge it.

Our school did not manage to qualify for the finals but it was worth it! It was essentially the exposure, bonding and team spirit that prevailed through the day. From the look on their faces, I could see the sense of accomplishment the boys felt. Eventhough there were tears, the boys put up a brave fight and displayed upmost showmanship! The true spirit of an ONEIDA cub!

After an entire day in the sun, the boys went home exhausted and fulfilled! Lets give a shout to ONEIDA!

And finally...we at East Spring Primary would not have made it without...

MR FARIS FONG @ FREE SPIRIT!

Many thanks to your dedication and unrelentless support for our cubs! Your contribution and efforts in helping us to prepare for the National Pioneering Competition as well as guiding our cubs through the event is greatly appreciated! On behalf of Mdm Azah, Mdm Shikin & myself, I thank you indeed.
